Jeanette Ward reached the end of her beautiful life on April 8, 2024, at the age of 84.

Born to James and Jewel Coupland in Odenville, Alabama on August 16, 1939, Jeanette was raised in Birmingham. While there, she met and married her first husband, John H. Roberston. The Army brought them to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where they brought two beautiful daughters into the world before his untimely passing. Jeanette later met and wed her late husband, Howard Ward, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

Prior to her retirement, Jeanette was a realtor by trade and spent many years serving the Fayetteville area. She was also a dedicated member of her church, St. Matthews UMC. Jeanette loved spending her time outside, often watching birds while enjoying the perfect glass of wine. She also loved bowling and golfing with her husband, Howard. Most importantly, she was always available for quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was “Nana.”

Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Howard. She is survived by her two children: Jeanine Cotton and husband, Chuck; Dawn Shepard and husband, Michael. She leaves behind four grandchildren: Taylor McGovern and wife, Lindsay; Lauren Shaffer and husband, Jeff; Sam Shepard, and Emily Shepard. She also leaves behind three great-grandsons: Aiden, Asher, and Austen. She is also survived by her brothers, Donald, and Billy. Jeanette leaves many other family members and dear friends who will deeply miss her.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. Matthews United Methodist Church on Hope Mills Road. Visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. and the service at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Jeanette would undoubtedly and selflessly request that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in honor of her late husband, Howard.
