HOPE MILLS COMMISSIONERS

Hope Mills board to hear discussion on police staffing and pay

Special meeting set for Tuesday night

Posted

The Hope Mills Commissioners board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall to discuss a pay and staffing plan for the town’s police department.

Mayor Jessie Bellflowers told CityView that Police Chief Stephen Dollinger will be providing a presentation to the board about year-to-date crime statistics, salary comparisons and a recruitment plan.

“The police department would like the new town board to be briefed on the current operations,” said Bellflowers, who assumed his new role as mayor on Dec. 4.

Bellflowers said he wanted to clarify the meeting wasn’t related to the $18,000 pay study approved in October that will examine salaries of the police department and other city departments. The meeting will, however, help give some information to the board in preparation to discuss parts of the pay study at the regular board meeting on Dec. 18.
