Outer Banks historian to speak about Lost Colony at FTCC on Oct. 26

An Outer Banks historian will deliver a lecture entitled "Why the Roanoke Voyages Failed: Theories Abound" as part of Fayetteville Technical Community College's Community Lecture Series.

Tama Creef will provide an overview of the extensive research on the Lost Colony and how the story has been used in folklore, art and commerce at 1 p.m. Thursday in the multipurpose room of the Tony Rand Student Center, according to a release. 

The program is free and open to the public.

Creef, now retired, was a longtime archivist with the state's Outer Banks History Center on Roanoke Island, where she spent the past 15 years processing collections and guiding researchers., the release said.

The lecture will be streamed live online at   faytechcc.edu/media-services/roanoke-colony-history-lecture/ - or by scanning the QR code on the attached flier.

Parking for the student center is accessible via the FTCC access road, which runs behind the student center between Hull Road and Devers Street. Entrances to the access road will be marked with special event signs, the release said.
