Fayetteville police make arrest in shooting death at motel

A Fayetteville man has been charged with first-degree murder in a shooting at a motel in August, the Police Department said.

Erik Anderson, 43, of Spring Lake, was killed Aug. 11 at the Motel 6 on Bragg Boulevard, police said.

Donald Edward Payne Jr., 38, of the 700 block of Galloway Drive, was arrested Thursday by members of the U.S. Marshals Service at an apartment on Tiffany Court, the Police Department said in a release. He is in the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.
