Alex McFadyen named to Coldwell Banker 30 under 30
Alex McFadyen has been selected as one of Coldwell Banker’s 30 under 30 winners for the class of 2022.
The 30 Under 30 award celebrates top young real estate professionals who have made their mark at Coldwell Banker, the organization said in a release. It recognizes those who have “made their mark in real estate and achieved success in sales, philanthropy and leadership,’’ the release states.
“I’m very proud to be recognized as a part of the Coldwell Banker 30 Under 30 Award,’’ McFadyen said. “I am thankful for the leadership and mentors at Coldwell Banker Advantage. I know I could not have done it without them.

McFadyen, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, has been with Coldwell Banker since January 2020. He received the Rookie of the Year Award for 2020, was runner-up for Listing Agent of the Year in 2021 and was runner-up for Production Agent of the Year in 2021.

Cape Fear Valley receives stroke treatment award
Cape Fear Valley Medical Center has received the Get With the Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association.
The award recognizes commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence, the health system said in a release.
The hospital earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a specific period, the release said.
The measures included evaluation of the proper use of medications and other treatments that aim to speed recovery and reduce death and disability for stroke patients, the hospital said in the release.
Cumberland County Schools seeking literacy tutors
The N.C. Education Corps is recruiting high-impact literacy tutors to work with students in Cumberland County Schools for the 2022-23 school year.
The corps members are employed by the school system to serve as part-time literacy tutors in classrooms, according to a release from the school system.
Tutors receive training and support from the N.C. Education Corps and the school system. The pay rate ranges from $15 to $25 per hour depending on experience, the release said.
