Jean Margaret ((Treaster)) O’Brien

Jean Margaret (Clancy)(Colville) O’Brien, 89, of Fayetteville passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Jean was born in Carlisle, PA on July 28, 1934, to Samuel and Ruth Treaster.

Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Chandler; husbands, Bill O’Brien, Harold Colville, and Dorman Clancy; and her brothers, Floyd, Wayne, and Mahlon Treaster. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Steven Clancy and wife, Donna of Florida, Michael Clancy and wife, Roberta of Fayetteville, Kerry Clancy and wife, Jeanne of Fayetteville, Jeffrey and wife, Barbie of Wilmington, NC, Joan Burge and husband, Randy of Vass, NC, and son in law, Michael Chandler; grandchildren, Bill Clark, Matt Clark and wife, Sylie, Daniel Clark and wife, Kelly, Jeremy Clancy and wife, Katie, Melissa Taylor and husband, Matt, Crystal Clancy, Courtney Clancy, Nicole Clancy, Lauren Hites and husband, Mike, Michael Clancy, Kathryn Edge and husband, Ryan, Erin Clancy, Zachary Burge, and Jennibeth Burge. 

She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, Casey Wing and husband, Justin, Sara Clark, Matthew, Brianna, Andrew, Ben, Katie, Rebecca, Ellie, Connor, Savanna, Cameran, Bentley, Caleb Hites and wife, Emily, Victoria, Landon, Scarlett, Carson, Austin, and Evelyn; and her great great grandchildren, Matthew, Jr., Deegan, Emma, Marley, and Baby Girl. 

Jean married at 16, nourishing her love for the Lord, family, and travel. From Germany to California, Kentucky to Virginia, Tennessee to North Carolina, and even Japan, her travels finally led her to settle in Fayetteville, NC, where she raised her six children. Jean was a member of Village Drive Baptist Church while her children were young and raised them to fear the Lord. 

Jean worked at Bordeaux Drug Company and retired from JC Penney’s stock room. She joined Snyder Memorial Baptist Church; she loved her church community with great passion. She continued her travels in her mature life including trips to Germany, Alaska, China, Australia, cruises with her family, journeys with her “Granny Friends” who she adored, and trips with the “Snow Birds”, Camp Cheerio where she was an instigator of much trickery. Overflowing with fun, laughter, and love, Mom, Grandma, MawMaw, and our friend we love and miss you. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 1 to 1:45 pm at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm in the Breece Chapel. Burial to follow the service at Lafayette Memorial Park.
